It has come to our attention that one of our Heroes’ Week guests in 2018 was not, in fact, a wounded or injured Veteran. This individual misrepresented himself, his service, his military accomplishments, his awards, and the rank he achieved. This information was brought to our attention by another Veterans’ organization with which he was affiliated. All of that said, we endeavor to thoroughly vet all candidates for the events we host and this incident will cause us to re-double our efforts in that regard. To our supporters, volunteers, Veterans, first responders, and the people we serve, you have my word that we will do everything we can to avoid this in the future. The presence of people like this who dare to disgrace the service and sacrifice of our legitimate guests is an embarrassment to the Task Force that we hope to never let happen again.
