Biographical Sketch

Mark James Anthony, 60, died April 23, 2020, from complications due to undiagnosed cancer. He was born March 26, 1960, in Warren, Ohio, to Clyde and Colleen Anthony. He graduated from Howland High School and attended Youngstown State University. He was employed at United Launch Alliance (ULA) in Decatur as a Technician for over 20 years.

Mark was a volunteer with organizations that his children participated in, including coaching ball teams, flagging go-kart races, Huntsville Quarter Midget Association, Scholar’s Bowl, Punkin Center Volunteer Fire Department, and the Austin High School Band. He accepted Christ as his Savior in 1991 and was an active member of Trinity Baptist Church.

In keeping with Mark’s volunteer heart, he was instrumental in the establishment and success of the Semper Fi Community Task Force’s Semper Fi Racing Team. He loved working with the children of Gold Star families and wounded Veterans; instilling confidence in the children and teaching them about the engineering and physics that apply in every lap of every race. Mark truly made racing fun for all the drivers and volunteers.
