Order the New Alabama Marine License Plate Today
The new Distinctive Alabama Marine License Plate application and design were approved by the
Legislative Oversight Committee during the May 2, 2023, meeting.
The twelve-month period in which to obtain 1000 “Commitments to Purchase” began July 1, 2023, and ends June 30, 2024.

How to Apply for a New & Distinctive Alabama Marine License Plate
The new Alabama Marine license plate is open for ANY Alabama driver to purchase for $50. This is the cost for any distinctive specialty plate.
To secure your unique and customizable U.S. Marine Corps license plate, you are required to:
- purchase a pre-commitment for the distinctive license plate
- complete the online “Commitment to Purchase” application
- and pay the $50 distinctive plate fee.
Again, this new plate is available for any Marine, anyone with a connection to a Marine, or those who generally wish to support the Marine Veteran community.
- Proceeds from purchases of these new license plates will be distributed to the Alabama Marine Triad (AMT), a partnership that encompasses the Semper Fi Community Task Force (HQ Huntsville), the Krulak Marine Alliance of Alabama (HQ Hoover), and the Alabama Marines Foundation (HQ Tuscaloosa). All funds received by these organizations from the sale of the new Marine license plates will be applied to improving the quality of life for our Veterans and their families.
Please note that applicants will continue to use their current, valid Alabama license plate, as no registration changes are made at this point in the process.
Instructions:
- Go to https://mydmv.revenue.alabama.gov/tap/_/
- Under Plates, click on the Reserve a Pre-Commitment Plate
- Read information, you will need the vehicle’s VIN
- Click on the “I am not a robot” verification, follow instructions
- Click on Next button
- Under Plate type, choose “Krulak Marine Alliance of Alabama” (the distinctive and customizable Marine plate will appear)
- Click on Next button
- Under Application Type, choose “Individual”
- Provide requested information
- Click on Next button
- Provide requested information
- Click on Verify Address button
- Click on Next button
- Click on “Add a Record”
- Provide requested vehicle information (if you want to reserve a plate for another vehicle, click on “Add a Record”)
- Click on the Next button
- On the Fee page, click on the Next button (fee is $50)
- Review summary of information
- Click on the Next button
- On the Payment page, confirm the fee
- Click on the Next button
- Confirm submission by typing in your name
- Click on PAY button (you will be sent to a third-party website to pay the $50 plate fee online using a credit card)
- Provide your credit card information (note: There is a $2.50 surcharge for paying online)
- Click on the Next button, or if you change your mind, the Cancel Button.
